Unable to use iWnnIME (Japanese) software keyboard #173

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Log into host
2. Try to type with the software keyboard

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
No input is performed.

What version of the product are you using (you can see this by using Menu
-> About in the Host List)?
r376

Please provide any additional information below.
I am using an HTC Magic in Japan (NTT Docomo HT-03A). I'm guessing it has
to do something with the Japanese input for the software keyboard that
makes it different than the European/American versions.

I've tried the iWnnIME on my own device with success. Is there any indication of
which version of the Japanese IME you're using?

Thanks kenny.

I could successfully login to remote SSH host with simeji IME.
But no success with iWnnIME.

For your information,

Has there been an update to the OS since it was released? I know there is
OpenWnn in
the Android Open Source Project, but I'm not sure if it's equivalent to iWnnIME.

I just tried with OpenWnn IME (comes with Android Open Source Project) that is
made
by the same company as the iWnnIME and it doesn't work at all. It seems to make
some
hard assumptions about the edit target. Not good.

I got a reply from Takehiro at Omronsoft that the future versions could fix
this.

I'm in Japan with a DoCoMo HT-03A, I'm a C/C++ dev with some Java experience,
interested in playing with Android development. I'd like to get this working,
let me
know if I can help.

By the way, there is a workaround: select the password prompt and hold down the
trackball, you can change input method to android keyboard and log on.
