While referring to timespans by the means of remote IDs has some clear disadvantages, it also has some advantages (preserving the dating context, hinting at the dating schema, ...)
So I wonder whether it is planned to allow for (arbitrary) URIs within a "when" field. This in solitary use would break a good deal of naive comparability of features without consulting external knowledge, but it would benefit the LOD idea to some extent.
