Doubts about this PR, now is it mandatory to have the Updater for the plugin to work? User reported that the plugin did not work in this latest version, error says that the updater is missing.

Is it mandatory now? Would it be possible to make optional in the case? If you don't have the updater, the plugin still works, but it doesn't receive updates automatically.
