Circular Icon Plugin Request #126

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Firstly, I love this app! I was wondering if you could add a plugin using the
graphics from "Circular Battery Indicator" found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809588

That app was built based on your source, but it hasn't been updated in years
and therefore doesn't include the 1% hack, which I need as I am using a
Motorola device.

Please let me know if this is possible. Thanks :)

Hi.

I've always wanted a circular icon plugin like the one you linked to, and this
was one of the original motivations for creating the current plugin system.
But I'm busy and I'm not great with graphics, so I haven't gotten around to
making a circular plugin of my own yet.

I tried, years ago, to figure out what the license was on the graphics you
linked to, but I never figured it out. I'm not comfortable using them without
a clear (open) license or statement that they're in the public domain.
(Incidentally, whoever created that modded version of my app didn't release the
code in compliance with the GPL, and I asked them to either share the code or
take the mod down, but they did neither. So I'm not left with the best feeling
about them.)

Anyway, If you're eager for this to happen, if you can track down some circular
battery icons under a Creative Commons or similarly open license, that would go
a long way towards making this happen sooner. Otherwise, I'm sure I'll make it
happen eventually, but I'm juggling a lot at the moment.

Thanks!

Wow, thanks so much for the great reply! I also tried contacting the creator of
that app on XDA with no luck. He gave credit in the thread for the graphics to
another XDA user "Fightspit" so I just sent him a PM. Hopefully he knows the
deal on those images.

Thanks again!!

I heard back from Fightspit and it turns out he is the creator of the graphics
and is allowing them to be used freely.

In this thread from July 2010, he explains how he created the graphics:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7172320&postcount=1

Here is his response to my message indicating that he is making the graphics
available to use freely: http://i.imgur.com/VidU7.jpg

Hopefully this is adequate?

Awesome, thanks!

I'm going to be out of town for the next couple weeks, but I look forward to
getting this going soon.

No, I'm juggling quite a bit at the moment. This is relatively high on my list
of things to get to, but there are several other things higher at the moment.
