desktop sms not showing contacts or sms when connected

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.when link is green 
2.desktop android is running
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I just get a blank box even after I press refresh

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Android 2.1, windows xp pro 32bit, lates desktopsms

Please provide any additional information below.

+1 for SMS/Contacts not showing up at all when connected.
Also running an HTC Desire v2.1 + Win7 x64 + WiFi + JRE v6 Update 20

I had the same problem, and I added a contact by saving it to "mobile" and this 
one (and only this one) show up. I bet it's linked to HTC Sense and the way of 
storing contacts with facebook sync...
