Could not open the lockfile for writing an image

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Using WEBphysiology which includes TimThumb
2. Create Portfolio Item & Upload Image
3. Display Portfolio (all images broken)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Should see a resized Thumbnail of the Screenshot
Actually see:
A TimThumb error has occured
The following error(s) occured:
Could not open the lockfile for writing an image.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Version 2.7, CentOS Linux

And fixed if by magic! Within the WEBphysiology Plugin the imageresizer folder 
contains index.php, thumbnail.php (which points the cache to ./cache) and a 
folder called cache (which needs to be chmoded to 777
