For what it's worth this is already possible in Android 2.1, at least for 
devices using 
the virtual keyboard. The virtual keyboard has a voice button that allows you 
to invoke 
voice input for any text field on the device. I am not sure how this works with 
devices 
with physical keyboards though (such as the Droid), so maybe this is still 
worth hard 
coding in the app.
