I don't quite understand what Lee meant

I think it's that Lee gave the wrong link since I created a new repo instead of forking on github.

the problem here is that this repository is not a fork of Lee's repository. Instead this is a new repository and not linked. code has been getting updated on Lee's repository now and it is working quite nicely.

the extension for Lee's repository is called "Response for Brackets - original" in the extension manager. Install that instead of the one uploaded by kidwm
