react-transition-group seems like the way to go for this. Your traditional "select element and add/remove class to animate" method won't work with React. This package handles transitions and animations for React components in a sophisticated and appropriately structured manner.
On the full killboard, stats reside in individual cells. We should give the option to flash these cells when the stat changes. This helps quickly bring attention to a stat that has changed, which can be useful when debugging or for commentators.
