New GStreamer Releases #19

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
GStreamer will be releasing an update to good, bad, etc. here soon. They
have a pre-release on git. How soon should we move to the release? And who
would like to take charge of doing the update?

Hi,
I'm actually testing the pre-releases. I can take care of the update if you
want :)
I'll create a branch for that.

That sounds great.

I'm almost at the point of adding in those projects that are still outstanding
(ticket #14, http://code.google.com/p/ossbuild/issues/detail?id=14). But I
would
like to get the WiX installers completed first.

Once I get the WiX installers all the way done (I now have just the dev
installer to
complete), would you like to use them instead of Inno Setup? I anticipate the
dev
installer will have a feature tree so users can select which bindings (for
example)
to install or leave out. Plus I *might* attempt Visual Studio integration. The
normal installers already have a feature tree for selecting which plugins to
install: ugly, bad, ffmpeg, opengl, farsight, etc.

Sure! The WiX installers are much better than the InnoSetup ones :)
Tomorrow I'll have some free time and I'll start wokring in the updating all
the modules.

Great! (c: Please make sure you do an update b/c the MSVC projects moved around
a
tiny bit (Main/GStreamer/ started feeling a bit overcrowded). They're now in
Main/GStreamer/Windows/Build/ (notice the "GStreamer-Win-Build" there? (c: ).

Yeaaa!
I'll have everything updated tonight :)
I'll wait for a WinBuilds release until bad and ugly are released, b/c core,
base and
good are freezed until the release of bad and ugly and there will be a new
release
after the move from bad to good is done.

Sounds good. (c:

The express edition solution has been updated and the name tweaked a tiny bit +
there's some installer fixes in svn. Be sure and do another update - this
should be
the last one where I muck w/ the solutions prior to your upgrade.

The gst and SDK installers are ready for testing. I'll upload them to the
downloads
page ASAP. But they won't be a featured download. I'm naming them v0.10.6 beta,
but
they don't have any of your updates.

When we get the chance, let's meet over IRC so I can give you the overview on
the
installers and how they work (if you're not familiar w/ WiX or Windows
Installer
APIs). I'd like to not be the only one able to maintain them.

Before we talk, read up on WiX -- here's the suggested tutorial (I've read it
myself): http://www.tramontana.co.hu/wix/

I'm pushing core and base update. I'll finish with good, python and gnonlin
tomorrow.
I have tested the installers and so far so good. I like having the hability to
select
which modules are going to be installed. Excellent work, kudos to you ;)
