stuttering on spotify #69

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. when i sync my "living room" player, all players start to stutter badly.  
This only seems to happen when running spotify.  Pandora, Slacker and my 
personal music collection all play fine.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I'm using the latest version of squeezelite on Debian Wheezy 32 bit

Please provide any additional information below.
I have 3 squeezelite players at the moment, "Kitchen" and "Backyard" stream 
from my main PC which is running the Logitech Media Server on Linux Mint 16. 
The "living room" player is the only standalone player and is running on an 
older laptop with 512 ram.  I've tried increasing the buffer setting, it didn't 
help. I've also tried lowering the spotify quality down to 96k.

I expect this is a spotify plugin problem not a squeezlite one as others report 
problems with sync on recent linux kernels.
