Ikey extenders not working

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.It hasn't ever worked.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I can't get the additional keys on the extender.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system
(iPhone/iPod Touch? Firmware version?)?
I don't know what version I downloaded but I'm on 3.0 os and it's an iPhone.

Please provide any additional information below.
