Video/Audio stutter when reading from MPK file #33

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

The symptoms are that when ever a game reads from the controller pak, (ie
from the mpk file), it seems to stutter pretty severely. Mostly my wife
plays "The New Tetris" and this is most evident when selecting the player
to use.

When she goes to the player select screen, the sound stops (or stutters)
and the video freezes for a second or two. It seems that once the mpk file
has been read and processed the game runs smoothly ... until she goes back
to the player select screen (which is on every new game).

From mherbert:

Just to update on this. For fun I tried out the same game, with the
same save files on Project64. It hesitated for maybe 1/4 of a second
(at most) loading the player select screen.

Are we reading this info into a buffer or opening the file?

I recently started tweaking my setting in glide64 to try to improve performance
in
other games. After a lot of tweaking, I went back to "The New Tetris", and
suddenly
the stuttering was gone. It now behaves equivalent to PJ64 on windows. I have
tried
to re-create the problem, but so far have been unable to reproduce the exact
configuration settings that triggered it.
