IP Blocking - Russia? #28

Closed DomiiBunn closed 2 years ago

DomiiBunn commented 2 years ago

Should we block Russia from using the applet?

This might be actually helpful in order not to leak possible troop information,

kinshukdua commented 2 years ago

People can always straight up use twitter or download the repo from GitHub to create their own map, that defeats the purpose of blocking Russian IPs.

DomiiBunn commented 2 years ago

True true

sahal-mulki commented 2 years ago

But let's at least try, eh?

DomiiBunn commented 2 years ago

IDK, for me, it's just one click. I'm not making the decision tho.

sahal-mulki commented 2 years ago

ok, how should we implement this ip filter?

DomiiBunn commented 2 years ago

I can just block it on the domain level. As the domain runs on it it's a simple firewall rule

sahal-mulki commented 2 years ago

your hosting it? ok good idea.

sahal-mulki commented 2 years ago

can you add me as a collaborator too?

DomiiBunn commented 2 years ago

I'm just proxying it and have the domain pointed at it. It's hosted by @kinshukdua atm.

sahal-mulki commented 2 years ago

please?

DomiiBunn commented 2 years ago

It's not issue related and I'm not the one to make this decision.

laurin commented 2 years ago

I think we can just close the issue, this does not make sense.

sahal-mulki commented 2 years ago

ok @DomiiBunn

kinshukdua commented 2 years ago

Yeah, we should close this issue. We can reopen this if we get any significant attacks coming from Russian IPs.
