Some devices not connecting to wifi when the wifi mesh network wifi is hidden #1058

Observation (O: No issue with hidden wifi, X: Seems to not connect with hidden wifi)

  • X Chromecast gen3? The one with Google TV

Actually I'm not sure at which level I'm seeing these devices to be disconnected. On Deco's management app, I often see these devices connected, while they are not available on Youtube's Chromecast connection target, which could be a separate issue.

Regardless, connection has become trickier after switching to Deco.

I just saw one of the Chromecast devices became available on the list of Chromecast target, while the SSID for the wifi provided by Deco is hidden. So a Chromecast DOES reconnect to a hidden wifi.

I re-factory-reset and Chromecast-GoogleTV was struggling to connecto a hidden wifi. Even after disabling hidden feature it still didn't connect. I restarted init process of Chromecast and connection then it immediately connected to a non-hidden wifi.

Later, I switched the wifi to hidden again, still verified the same Chromecast stayed connected to a hidden wifi, and the device is available on Chromecast.
