Frustrations that I haven't really tried to deal with are:
Unclear every evening who's going to make adults meal.
Unclear almost every evening what to make for dinner.
Because recipe is undecided, grocery shopping list is spontaneous except limited number of items with specific ideas in mind.
My hunch is:
1st item is easy. I just talked to my wife and by default it's me who makes adult food, as it has been.
2nd, and 3rd items: No solution yet.
For coming up with menu, there are ingredient delivery services. We tried Hello Fresh before https://github.com/130s/30y-130s_life/issues/575 and liked although stopped because of other considerations at that time. It's on our list but not a permanent/complete solution to my problem.
I can only think of being proactive in making a menu prior to no later than grocery shopping run.
Here I can utilize menu/recipe services that have features that can help me.
Requirement
Deduced from analyzing the problem above,
I can list up easily the ingredients by default for a menu.
I can list up menus for a set number of days, say for 7 days at minimum.
I can find good Asian menu coverage.
One of my random search criteria is "tendon", and see if the service returns "rice bowl with tempura on the top", not just recipes with tendon.
Both desktop, and mobile app available.
Posting an original recipe or a recipe from external website is easy.
Either by linking to external website the title and picture can be imported at minimum.
Getting ingredients is awesome but not super important. Non-English support either.
(Optional) I can get inspiration on the same service, not having to go out of somewhere else.
(Optional) I can post a plan referencing to a recipe external to the service.
(Optional) I can upload original recipe to the same service.
Giving a try with Big Oven. So far I'm liking the meal planner feature.
Initially I'd stick to either allrecipes.com or yummly.com, both of which don't seem to come with meal planning feature.
Back in 2011 allrecipes.com launched a planner service, but today I can't find it. Understandably it's an old announcement, and also the service was purchased by another company in the meantime so I expect there's been changes.
