There's 8GB ram Chromebook with Trackpoint https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-CHRMBOOK-I5-1245U-256GB-Black/dp/B0BDXL959J where there's a 3rd party seller, Lagoom Sales with a concerning 3.1/5 stars (over the last 12 months but lifetime review is 4.6/5), selling with $450 or less with "Very Good".
That seller on amazon no longer lists $450 item...only $1K+ are left on amazon.com.
I see some below $500 items on ebay.com, says "eBay Refurbished".
Is eBay Refurbished Good? (thesmallbusinessblog.net)
Cons of Buying eBay Refurbished
- Limited Availability: Refurbished items are not always available on eBay, so you may have to wait for the item you want to become available.
- Uncertainty: While eBay’s refurbished program offers quality items, there is still some uncertainty when buying a refurbished item. You may not know the full history of the item, and there is always a risk that the item may not work as expected.
- Return Policy: Before buying a refurbished item on eBay, be sure to read the seller’s return policy. Some sellers may not accept returns, while others may charge a restocking fee.
Some of them have good seller reputation, free return policy.
Spec comparison of the one I have or I'm interested in getting:

*1...Spec is kind of doubtful...There is another C13 on the same page in comparison chart that has very different spec figures e.g. RAM size, dimension. So original info crossed out and updated with "another c13" spec, which seems to match with what I have
No definitive answers found so far. So some inputs below.
Yes, 8GB of RAM is enough to run the Linux extension on a Chromebook. However, it depends on the specific Linux applications you plan to use. If you are only going to use light-weight Linux applications, such as text editors, web browsers, and email clients, then 8GB of RAM should be sufficient. However, if you plan to use more demanding Linux applications, such as video editors, game development tools, or programming IDEs, then you may want to consider a Chromebook with 16GB of RAM.
Went with c14 on ebay, $350 originally.
