Need For SEO Title field for page entity #340

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
We have a strong need for an additional field within CMS for page entity.

Currently existing:
1. Page Title
- Used for Browser Title
- Used for Sitemap
- Used to display page children

2. Friendly URL
- Used for external linking
- Used for internal linking

Now to our challenge:
We have a lot of pages that have a veeeeery long title due to these pages being
optimized for keyword ranking (SEO).
However when using "find page children" or within Sitemap page we always have
to display the very long title, instead of a page title.

i.e. "Roofing and Guttering" would be the page title and
"Roofing and Guttering - Let Karpanto help you find the perfect contractor for
your roofing and guttering needs"

Ideally we would like to use command $page.seotitle

You can see the impact here: http://www.karpanto.com and
http://www.karpanto.com/sitemap just look at the sitemap and the page titles in
the browser.

Have you tried using the SEO plugin, it ships already installed with Vosao

Yes we have. Unfortunately the SEO Plugin only allows for 301 redirects, URL to
Page friendly URL. However we need a SEO page title in addition to the regular
page title.

Otherwise the we would not be able to use functions like getPageChildren and so
on cause the title would just be too long

Do you need this SEO title to be multi-language?

Ideally yes, but to be honest default language (i.e. en) would be enough as
Google and co mostly index in en anyways.
