What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Opened a media file with extension .3gp
2. worked on it
3. saved as with a new name and the new file got an extension .rtf
4. intended to open the saved file and got a message : cannot open

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I would expect the file to open that i can continue work on it

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

I use a version 1.0

Please provide any additional information below.

Hi,
saving your text-file is not related to the media-file used.

Can you open the new file with TextEdit, Pages or Word?
I could not reproduce this problem so far.
Can you open the file with the old name?

HI, I have realised that the the save or saved as function produces a rtf file
and do not tag the text to the media file as I have would thought. So if I open
the text file from the pop up menu from the ribbon and than open the media file
from the the folder icon below the media window I can get to the end of the
text, click on the time stamp, the media file jumps to that and I can carry on
and save my new progress as rt. and repeat the process every time till complete.

Would be nice to have this loop described in the help or how to one pager you
have done.

This works for me.
