Problems to fix:

[x] If you refresh in dark mode, the light mode images are loaded by default
[ ] The funky images are only downloaded when you first hover over them and that takes some time
[ ] ~~cropping is a bit inconsistent~~ I think it's not that bad
[x] image containers should be squares on all screens

We can deal with the eager loading of images later, let's merge this if you like the design!
