Require unittest2 on Python < 2.7 #453

As part of 1.3.0 version compatibility breakage I think it's a good idea to get 
rid of all the cruft I added in the test suite in order to support recent 
unittest idioms on Python versions < 2.7 and required unittest2 module from 
pypi to be installed (else exit).

Closing out as fixed as 2.0.0 version is finally out.
