Might it be an idea to have some kind of indication to the player as to what the move is going to do to the planet? At the moment it seems that it's all just kinda guess work. If we did something like having a ghost planet appear when you hover over a mouse that might make the game a bit more solvable?
Claudia Zimmer
I second that!
Ed Hicks
how about a looping low opacity version of what the turn would do when hovering over any of the action buttons? Only issue with that is the swapping planets. Could mkae planet swaps only work with adjacent rings to solve this.
Peter Agg
A title/instruction page would help a lot for that as well. We could highlight the other planets on the hover rather than the click?
Claudia Zimmer
hm... maybe for the swapping: once you clicked the swap button it
highlights all the other planets... when you hover over another planet you
can see (ghosted) your last planets estimation on the orbit you want to
swap to and the swapping planet on the original position (also ghosted)?
... so you'll see what youll see what you are doing with both of them?
Peter Agg
So you preview the next turn? Not sure on that, kinda mixes up the functionality of the other arrows (that only show you the current move).
Are we still planning on showing planet information, if so having some kind of indication as to their speed may be worthwhile information. I guess at the moment it's a little black-boxy
Claudia Zimmer
ok... then how about... you click swap and it highlights all the available
planets... you hover over one of the planets and it previews all other
planets in the next turn?so you can hover over then and see how the next
turn will look like if you swap with the one you hover over?
I know its different from the left and right then.. I don't know... but for
the swap it would be useful... maybe for the left and right too... maybe
there could be a ghosting for the next turn always on? and that changes
depending on your actions... it'd certainly make the game easier...
Peter Agg
I'd say keeping it consistant is the biggest thing. In terms of being able to preview your changes... I'll leave that up to the designers. :)
