Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Unlock phone after screen has been off for approximately 5-10 seconds.
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Screen should unlock to home screen. Instead the screen is on but black. You
can press buttons and open apps but cannot see what you are doing.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Jellytime b16 on inspire 4g. I have had this problem on b14, b15, and b16. This
was not an issue on b13.

Please provide any additional information below.

I am having the same issue and it appears to be caused by the unlock sound. It
is appearing on the CM10 nightly as well if that helps narrow the issue down.

I get this same issue when opening different programs back up also. I open the
app and the screen goes black. I hit the lock and the back light goes off. Then
I hit lock again and slide to unlock and now I can see the program.

It seems to be caused if I have 'Touch sounds' enabled as well. I just noticed
the same issue when I received a phonecall.

After flashing R1 I did not have this problem I tried to replicate it several
times but all seemed well. However after I improperly removed my SD card the
issue occurs every time I turn the screen off. I have reflashed several times
since then and the problem persists. I don't know why it worked at first I must
have gotten a lucky first flash.

I'm reasonably sure this will fix the black screen problem. If you are running
Jellytime R1 flash this old kernel and it should work.

http://code.google.com/p/jellytime/downloads/detail?name=Kernel_3.0.40-kb15.zip&
can=2&q=

However I do not know what else it will effect negatively. For me the phone
works perfectly now.

"Backlight sometimes remains on when you lock the device - with a black screen
just lit.
HW overlays cause graphical issues - in settings/developer options check
disable hw overlays to fix."

Fallowing this fixed the issue for me, it also fixed another issue i had when i would try and open something (settings, app, messaging...) and the screen would go black with the backlight still on and still able to use apps just not see them.

hope this helps.

disabling hw overlays seems to have helped the issue significantly, however,
I'm still getting the bug maybe 33% of the time when I try and open the app
drawer. Haven't noticed it yet with anything else. Doing this also seems to
have helped the black screen when you click on notifications.

I just recently started having this issue. I had it on r3 and it is still
present on r5.1. Disabling HW overlays did not fix the problem.

Flashed R6 clean, still the issue on over 90% of screen unlocks....

pls.. pls fix this. it's one of the most annoying bugs i think :/

I also flashed R6 and disabled HW overlays and agree this seems to occur almost
every time I unlock. I did note however that once I connected in USB debug mode
to attempt to replicate the error and capture w logcat I was unable to have
this error re-occur.

Flashed JellyTime_R6, issue with black screen.
Inspire 4G 30.42JT_KangBangr7-gea0de36-dirty randomblame@Ferocious #2 kernel

When I have unlocked sound enable and unlock the phone the screen remains
black, captive buttons are lit. I have to press power button 3 times to show
screen. (Unlock, lock, unlock, to show screen.)

With unlock sounds off it works as should.

Pressing power and unlocking screen to Google straight from lock screen gives
me a black screen regardless if unlock sounds are enabled or disabled.

Having phone plugged in to a PC or outlet, screen unlocks normally regardless
if unlock sounds are enabled or disabled.

If unlock sounds are disabled I can unlock screen with no ill effects but as
soon as I start an app with sound I get a black screen and have to unlock,
lock, and unlock again to get to the app.

I did not have this issue with JellyTime B16. I went from B16-R6. Clean install.
Hope this gets fixed asap. Rom is my daily and this is a very annoying bug.

okay its already been well established that the first system sound will cause
black screen be it from google now or unlocking the screen or an app. As well
as the fact that it works just fine when charging. I'm definitely sick of
receiving "updates" explaining what's already been explained.

Your comments here get emailed to everyone so stop it please! I think at this
point there is nothing to do except wait for a fix.

As of 7.2, I still have this problem, but I've noticed that, after unlocking
the phone and the screen goes black, if you press the power button twice
rapidly, i get my screen. Whereas before I had to lock then unlock again.
