Same problem, try to reinstall, clean the vs code files and caache, try to open de folder permissions and it not work

Same problem. I checked the temp file dir, there are actually temp image files. Seems extension has no premission to read temp file there.

temp image file url from local dir can be also display in browser. I can't figure out why they can't display in hover popup.
