No nearby venues, and app crash in Android 2.0 on Motorola Droid. #127

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Open foursquare and login.
2. Update my city.
3. Enter my house as a venue in foursquare.
3. On the Nearby page, i see: 'No nearby venues!'
4. On the Friends page, when I scroll more than halfway down the page, I get an
error alert that
says that the application Foursquare has (process com.joelapenna.foursquared)
has stopped
unexpectedly

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I should see my house in the Nearby venues list, as well as other locations
that are close to my
house that are entered as venues in foursquare.
Scrolling my list of friends should not cause the application to crash.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
The version from the App Store, on Android 2.0

Please provide any additional information below.

Please test with http://joelapenna.com/ext/foursquare.apk and let me know if
that
fixes some of your problems.

Thanks Joe, that has fixed the scrolling list of friends.

I'm guessing that the nearby venues problem is related to your blog post about
google location services being
kind of crazy to implement!

I did download the Log Collector. would sending you a log from my phone help
you in any way?

Thanks again.

That log would be very useful. Because it can contain personal information make
sure
you skim it over before sending it my way.

I sent 2 log files to the foursquare-dev email address.

One of them is with wifi turned on, the other is with it off, using only 3g.

It looks like sometimes the Nearby list contains at least an entry for my
house, but this is sporadic.

Anyway, perhaps these help!

Thank you!

http://joelapenna.com/ext/foursquare.apk should have the fixes to make your
experience
better -- that will go on the market eventually. Let me know if it works.
