Question about translation workflow #19

Open mijiturka opened 5 years ago

mijiturka commented 5 years ago

What's the intended workflow when using the Translation view to translate subtitles? I've only recently noticed the Save Translation menu option, but that opens the translated file immediately. If I'm just going about a translation, what is a convenient way to save my progress and continue?

Meanwhile, I've lost some work by just saving the file and not the translation. Is there anywhere I could recover it from?

Thanks again for making the software, still using it happily!

First, the best way to not lost any data is to save as "Subtitle Editor Project".

Other format doesn't have translation attribute, so when you save a file (subrip, ssa, microdvd...) only the text column is used for subtitle text.

You also have tools like "Apply translation" or "Reverse Text and Translation".

Best regards,
