I think it'd be more useful to start zoomed in on the most recent roo rather than showing a distant incomprehensible grey line that needs a lot of zooming in.

Ymmv though so I'll leave this issue open for now.

Once the full Reddit objects for each roo are stored it'll be much easier to find the top roo. Find the roos with no parents then select the roo with the most recent post date. Not perfect but the best possible, short of a search algorithm that finds the deepest roo chain.
