Fix Firefox for Android display bug #2

So this actually works on mobile

kittsville commented 9 years ago

Current display on modern phone is not ideal because they have high resolutions but, physically, their screens are tiny. It makes the page unusable without zooming, which wastes time and takes away the 'Quick' from 'Quicklinks'.

I have a nasty feeling the fix won't be a simple.

Apparently the M8 has a pixel ratio of 3 so I've no idea why it's displaying in Firefox for Android with a ratio of 1 2015-08-14 23 14 50

Except loading the site starts off zoomed in by about x3. I'm going to leave this for now as there's no way in hell I'm making sense of this at 20 past midnight. 2015-08-14 23 21 34

On a side note, I'd be great if I could access the DNS settings on the router and have all queries for localhost go to the main desktop. No chance on the Home Hub but the TP-Link in Aberdeen might be able to.

Editing the host file would do it but would be more effort than it's worth on every device, would break between London/Aberdeen and not work any new device to the network or any device who's host file can't be edited (an unrooted Android for example).

To correct the earlier post. It starts off zoomed in x3 OR fully zoomed out. Refreshing the page jumps between them for no apparent reason. I suspect magic.

kittsville commented 9 years ago

Apparently the min-height and height fixes that keep the footer down might be messing with the phone.

Ah, fuck it.

kittsville commented 9 years ago

It seems it only switches between states if auto rotate is enabled. I'm going to see if the manifest file will help solve this.

kittsville commented 9 years ago

Still happening :disappointed:

I'll see if it happens on other sites some time soon. It could be a bug with Firefox for Android.

Mobile browsing is so messed up on a lot of sites anyway it's hard to tell :/

I doubt this is ever going to get fixed. If I learn anything new and interesting and CSS for mobile dev I'll reopen the issue.
