Versions

Description

buildozer android debug deploy run causes in locat:

Exception: The version of Kivy installed on this system is too old. (You have 1.11.0, but the application requires 1.11.1). I originally wanted to use 1.11.1 but if I install that version, I still get this error. So I decided to just use 1.11.0 but I still get the same error. I have tried:

buildozer android clean
buildozer appclean
pip3 install kivy==1.11.1
pipenv install kivy==1.11.1

I have tried explicitly setting the version in my buildozer.spec requirements as well as the osx section. It doesn't matter which version of kivy I install or specify (Or any combination thereof), I get the same error.

buildozer.spec

`buildozer android debug deploy run`

# and extend the excluded directories to remove the HD content.
#
#[app@demo]
#title = My Application (demo)
#
#[app:source.exclude_patterns@demo]
#images/hd/*
#
# Then, invoke the command line with the "demo" profile:
#
#buildozer --profile demo android debug

bitnom commented 4 years ago

I tried replacing 1.11.0 with 1.11.1 everywhere. Buildozer even downloads and installs 1.11.1:

and added:

import kivy
kivy.require('1.11.1')

but I still get the same error.

bitnom commented 4 years ago

I think this is somehow a result of using pipenv

tito commented 4 years ago

You don't need kivy installed on your system for making buildozer/android build working.

Buildozer download dependencies according to its recipes, cross compile them and embed into the final binary. Whatever you do with pip/pipenv have no impact for that.

I suggest you to remove all the local cache of buildozer, and retry from scratch. The kivy recipes in python-for-android master is using 1.11.1. (https://github.com/kivy/python-for-android/blob/develop/pythonforandroid/recipes/kivy/__init__.py)

I know this post is a little outdated. If anybody is getting the following error when compiling in VSCode (for kivymd library) - Exception: The version of Kivy installed on this system is too old. (You have 2.1.0, but the application requires 2.2.0), do this by typing in power shell as an admin : set-executionpolicy remotesigned. I am using pip 3.10 (3.11 does not work), Kivy 2.1.0 on both windows 10 and virtualbox 7.0. On ubuntu dont use a virtual environment, I cannot get it to work on an ubuntu. In windows Vs code you may use virtual environment and execute the above command.
