I have 3 extensions installed, 2 of them work both in a browser tab and in a home screen app.
uBlock origin just works in browser tabs, it looks like an issue with the browser itself.
All 3 extensions have the same basic configs (mainly "On", "Allow in Incognito" and "Site access: On all sites").
I'm testing the same webpage in both scenarios, I've added a custom filter to uBlock Origin to remove the footer of the page. This makes it very easy to confirm the issue.
