Wrong favicon appearing on unrelated tabs #1111

Describe the bug Normally, when creating a new tab, and then browsing something using the URL bar, the page starts loading and then it sends me on a Google search page with the results of the search words I entered.

But once in a while, the tab will load and stay black forever, as if my internet was lagging, and if I go back to the kiwi dashboard, where I can see all my tabs, the favicon used for the tab is the favicon of what seems to be a newspaper.

Some precision, I said that the tab is loading forever as if my internet was lagging. But it's not my internet, because I made tests: I can open many tabs after and it still won't work, but it will work in other browsers on my phone, proof that internet works fine.

I have to quit and restart Kiwi browser and it works again.

You can see a screenshot below: Screenshot_20240408-225835.png

Of course, I wasnt searching something related with this newspaper.

The normal behavior would have been that I arrive on this Google page for example: Screenshot_20240408-231338.png

But instead, as I said, the page is loading and black forever, and if I go to the dashboard I see the newspaper favicon.

And if I quit kiwi browser and then reopen it, here's what I see: Screenshot_20240408-231621.png

And if I click on the faulty tab, it is not lagging anymore but takes me back to the default "Discover" page: Screenshot_20240408-231640.png

(By the way: even the favicon of google.pt in the screenshot above is strange...)

This is not the first time happening, it happened many months ago, many times (but I don't remember if it was the same icon...). Since then it never happened, as of yesterday: it happened for three tabs.

Yesterday it happened on one tab, so I opened another tab to check internet connection by writing some random word, then it loaded forever again, so I opened once again another tab and searched something.

When I came back to the dashboardw there were three black tabs with this newspaper favicon, like the screenshot above.

And then today again it happened with the tab I’m showing you, and I decided to post here.

To Reproduce I don't know how to reproduce it, it seems it happened randomly, but always when searching by the url bar.

Expected behavior So there are 2 bugs: 1) the tab shouldnt sometimes load forever and crash. 2) the favicon shouldnt sometimes become of some newspaper while loading

Happened again just now:

On Kiwi browser, I was on the Google.com page, and searched "eclipse calendrier" on the google search field (so not the URL bar), and it lagged...

I tried disabling wifi, using my mobile network provider, and still lagging.

I tried Quitting manually in the android Kiwi Browser app parameters, and then starting again, and still lagging.

But If I do the same search in Chrome, it worked fine. Screenshot of Chrome: Screenshot_20240410-102126~2.png

And if I look at the tab in Kiwi Browser, the blue favicon is here again, screenshot of Kiwi: Screenshot_20240410-102118.png

It happened again today, I think it is related with the extension "uBlock origin" because I did this test:

Next time it happens, I'll try disable the other extensions one by one and test after each disable, and then end with ublock origin to be sure it's ublock origin and not another one.
