Have you tried any alternatives to the EX700? #6

I've been trying something similar to this project recently but have been unable to get hold of an EX700. Artech now sell the AD102 which is USB, but doesn't appear to support ARM architectures and/or Linux. The node-hid project seems pretty good but the software Artech bundle with the AD102 is so proprietary I don't think I'm going to be able to work without it if I want to address HID reports properly.

Any words of advice or alternative approaches you can offer?

I'm not 100% certain which type I had but I know it was from UsRobotics, and looking on the website I can only find one type that looks the same to the one I have.
