So far for backend, definitly python. PHP is a mess, and conventionally Java has a major overhead compared to Python. I have pretty heavy experience with Python and PHP, Java only from academic courses.

What I would like to make a stetement about is architecture: could we use, say angular, for the shop front and Django for the backoffice? How much of the backoffice work will be done from mobile devices, e.g farmers running around and updating their products? Etc, etc.

If it makes any difference, keep in mind that some farms may have not so good internet connexion and need a "light" interface so that it works well isolated places in the countryside. And I definitely agree on the mobile device, but I'm not sure it has to be done on a first version, it can be adapted for mobile later, cause all the farmers have a computer and internet. Or do we plan the first version for mobile device having in mind that the farmer will take a picture of the products with his smatphone when he add a new product to his webshop? It's actually probably more convenient for them. Maybe not all farmers have a smartphone, so we probably need the backoffice to work on both devices... We can ask some farmers that we know about what would be more practical for them ;-) For the choice of the languages I don't know anything about that!
