openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-mr3040-v2-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin BRICKED my TP-LINK #115

Hi,

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Upgrading firmware with
openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-mr3040-v2-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
when I now think I should have used
openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-mr3040-v2-squashfs-factory.bin

2. The device is bricked inasmuch as it cannot get an internet connection.
192.168.0.1 - nothing, 192.168.1.1 recognises openwrt and functions

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
How can I reset to factory defaults and start again?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
TP-LINK 3040-V2, Win 7

Please provide any additional information below.
removing battery, inserting pencil in reset hole does not cure

Please help if you can. Going to Lofoten Islands to time-lapse Northern Lights
in 8 days time.

Kind regards,

Denis

Sorry for late answer, it's my fail not seeing there are more issues open.

Was you updating the original TP-Link firmware or there was already OpenWrt
firmware on it? OpenWrt has a default 192.168.1.1 IP.
The 'factory' image is used when your router has the original TP-Link firmware.
The 'sysupgrade' image is used if your router already has OpenWrt on it
