References turns into "[? ]" after running thesis.text on Mac #248

I just downloaded the template and ran thesis.text by command+t on mac. Output pdf had reference missing (converted to [? ] or [? ? ? ])

Solved! (it required a latex update)

  1. I had mactex-2021 (https://www.tug.org/mactex/) (There were several mac OS updates in 2022)
  2. Maclex was no longer compatible with new Mac OS updates.
  3. I deleted all the applications. And all files from the system manually. (deleted entire directory /usr/local/texlive/ from mac)
  4. Restart Mac
  5. Reinstall the latest version of mactex-2022 (Mac OS 10.14, Mojave, or higher)
  6. Resolved reference errors! I recommend skipping Mac updates until you are done with your project.

Reference [?] issue is solved with the original @kks32 template and works perfectly but, I needed a glossary/abbreviations/nomenclature. So downloaded @clbarnes template. And somehow the issue reappeared. I am surprised that one template has a problem but the other one does not. I would greatly appreciate the help since I am in a rush to catch a thesis deadline.
