How To Change The Tray Icon #286

I'm trying to change the tray icon to something more appealing. I've already changed the icon in the .desktop file and that works in the launcher menu. But it is not changing the tray icon. I discovered that ./usr/share/icons/hicolor/0x0/apps/tusk.png was added to the system at installation, so I changed it to tusk-original.png and copied my preferred icon to the directory and named it tusk.png. Still no change. Is it possible that the tray icon is located in the Tusk binary and can only be changed by recompiling?

tusk_0.23.0_amd64.deb on MX Linux 19.2

I'm having exactly the same issue here. I'd like to have a better icon. Thanks.

Actually, this is the icon I'm getting:

i was getting fed up of Tusk's ugly icon which now doesn't even disappear from the system tray when quitting (on KDE), so i made a nice web app in chrome using More Tools --> Create Shortcut -->open as window. i get a nice green elephant desktop icon, and it essentially opens a chrome window but with all the toolbars and tab bar hidden. the taskbar icon is just the chrome one. however, it's labelled as Evernote so easy to identify.
