- The file is Reduced with compression factor 2
- The file is Reduced with compression factor 3
- The file is Reduced with compression factor 4
- The file is Imploded
- Reserved for Tokenizing compression algorithm
- The file is Deflated
- Enhanced Deflating using Deflate64(tm)
- PKWARE Data Compression Library Imploding (old IBM TERSE)

- File is compressed using BZIP2 algorithm
- Reserved by PKWARE
- LZMA
- Reserved by PKWARE
- IBM z/OS CMPSC Compression
- Reserved by PKWARE
- File is compressed using IBM TERSE (new)
- IBM LZ77 z Architecture
- deprecated (use method 93 for zstd)
- Zstandard (zstd) Compression
- MP3 Compression
- XZ Compression
- JPEG variant
- WavPack compressed data
- PPMd version I, Rev 1
- AE-x encryption marker (see APPENDIX E)
the zip module ATM only supports deflate compression. can other compression algorithms be added here ? zstd seems like the most desirable.
