Debug view defaults from clicking play from a node #1337

Describe the bug.

If I make a [[link]] today, and then click the play icon from the node itself, it show the word [[link]] before the actual blue link word.

It's happening in Sugarcube, from the Twine desktop app v2.3.16 for one of my macs running Catalina and another running High Sierra. I've never noticed it doing this before today and neither has my son on his computer. We are both running the Twine desktop app v2.3.16.

So in short, in Sugarcube, the PLAY icon from an individual node is defaulting to debug mode and the global PLAY icon in the bottom right corner does what's expected, showing just the blue link and not the brackets.

Steps to reproduce:

I use Twine from my desktop app I type a [link]] I click play from the node itself the preview mode in browser then shows [[link]] and then the word link (or whatever the passage name is) in BLUE after it like in the picture attached image

Expected behavior:

I expect it to look normal, the same way it does when I click the global play icon that starts from the complete beginning. When I click that button the same pages renders in the browser the expected way, like the attached picture here: Screen Shot 2022-11-29 at 8 38 18 PM

So, this doesn't happen if you switch the story format to something else?

I'm going to change this to an enhancement request because this is working as designed--the Test From Here button puts you into debug mode. It was Play From Here in 2.3 and earlier, and we could bring that back (mainly a screen space issue).

Wow, I'm honored to get a response from you! I'm fairly new to Twine and I expected that the UI would have identical behavior between Harlowe and Sugarcube. Thanks for the enhancement request.

BTW, I'm doing my Capstone Action Research Project (in place of a thesis) on Twine. Here's the working title: Does Gamification Using Twine Interactive Fiction Have a Positive Effect On Student Engagement And Achievement? Actually, I think I changed it away from a question, to the blander, "The Effect Of Gamification Using Twine Interactive Fiction On Student Engagement And Achievement." I'm making kids read some text that I'm going to Twine-ize and then make them write historical fiction Twines to show what they learned. I had 3 writers in my class last year to whom I gave independent projects to work on in Twine for fun when they finished before other people and I think the kids this year are going to love it! Thanks for your wonderful software and all you do.

PS - I have no idea how to refer to Twine in my paper because I'm trying to balance it out so that it's not confusing for non-tech people. It's not exactly software, or just a website, or a scripting language. It's sort of all of those! I think I usually refer to it as "the Twine platform" and call the interactive fiction "story-games." I may need to check out what Jeremiah McCall calls it. You're the best!
