Tools, equipment, armor and others are definitely in my contribution plans, especially since they have been discussed for a long time.
But regarding merchants the issue is a little more complicated, see for example how long Mojang has been trying to adjust villagers. About reworking them, i would strongly suggest to be more like bartenring with piglin instead of trading with villagers (possibly keeping some types or tiers)
Hum, ok, I can see it. I was thinking of a wandering trader approach as a "one-time sale" approach so that when one shows up, it will sell a list of items just once, so you need to look out for when they show up.
But for the other ones, Bartering would work too. maybe have it like a mix of bartering and tier trader. As you barter, you unlock other items. So each tier would just add a new item to the barter pool.
I feel that Infused and Iesnium pickaxes being the only tools in the mod is a bit problematic, especially with the need for farming trees. It would feel better if we got a complete set of tools, or at least an axe so that we could cut Otherwold trees efficiently with the goggles. Because chopping down a tree with a pickaxe is not fast.
Also, Not sure, but maybe merge both stone and sapling traders into a single trader? Because, I feel that trading stone for Otherstone is not that unique to require a wholly different ritual, as you just need to throw andesite into the spirit fire.
I feel that an "Otherworld Trader" could be better, a Trader Demon/Villager that you summon that trades both stone and saplings and other items. The trader could level up like normal villagers, but instead of evolving via trades, you have different rituals for each trader level.
Here are some examples of trades and their levels. I saw the other trader suggestion and I liked how it uses Afrit essence as the currency. I also added some trades that are just "convert this block" options for the early trade levels. Also, I think that soul gems and even soul shards could be used as currency or as a trade option.
Novice: Any stone -> Otherstone Any Saplin -> Stable Otherworld Saplin Any forge:crop or Forge:fruit -> Demon dream fruit Any forge:gem -> spirit attuned Gem
Apprentice: Any log -> Otherworld wood spirit attuned Gem -> Otherworld goggles spirit attuned Gem -> low-tier book of binding
Journeyman: Diamond Pick -> Infused pick afrit essence -> mid-tier book of binding afrit essence -> Empty soul gem
Expert: afrit essence -> High-tier book of binding afrit essence/Empty soul gem -> storage part afrit essence -> Any occultism gear
Master: afrit essence -> iesnium gear (Picks and other tools, maybe even armor if added)
And the idea of a "Treasure trader" that trades treasure chest loot is a great option, it would be nice if it worked like the Wandering Trader, where the trades do not restock and vanishes after a few days or if all trades are done.
