I think in the same script as checking the volume of each sample, we could check the metadata in the IFCB sample .hdr that indicates either triggering on chlorophyll fluorescence (CHL) only: PMTtriggerSelection_DAQ_MCConly: 2 - or - triggering on both CHL and side scatter (SSC):
PMTtriggerSelection_DAQ_MCConly: 3
