Feature Request: PAT / Winlink modded to use existing data #402

Any thought on using the path info: /run/user/1000/gridinfo.txt for the PAT / Winlink (and other apps calling for gridsquare)? Seems silly if you have the gridsquare set via your Ruby app & GPS (or my python app & GPS) to not mod the other apps using it to not use it.

There is already a way to update the grid in Pat Menu based on GPS data. Open Pat Menu->Manage Pat Winlink->GPS Grid Update. It does require user interaction though. Not sure I want to mess with someone's config file in an auto fashion. To me, it's best left to the user to decide when the grid gets updated.
