It is currently still failing with:

  Update the VERSION argument <min> value or use a ...<max> suffix to tell
  CMake that the project does not need compatibility with older versions.

  compatibility with CMake 3.10 and below the legacy GL library will be used.

This is the same error I get when compiling on openSUSE Tumbleweed.
