PHP Code To ping host/Servers on a Network from a Solaris box. Web Based... #38

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. I am looking for php code that pings servers(can be any machine Unix
Solaris or windows or AIX)and should have an option of ping with hostname
or IP address if required on a network and return you the status? 
2. When the status is returned it must reflect green or red light on a php
web page.
3. This code i want to include in my present application which monitors
servers, basically i have a monitoring box where my application is running
and i am trying to include this functionality.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Status of hosts or servers see red or green light on a php page.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Solaris10 and running XAMPP on it..

Please provide any additional information below.
