Optimize movement of items #11

These optimizations mostly change the way the code iterates through the input and output lanes, for as much as a 2x speedup, while hopefully not changing the way the balancer operates.

I'm closing this PR because my repo has become a new mod and I don't see this version of the mod being updated any time soon.
