Also, that updated version triggered the wrong icon for image files, using the PDF icon in the apps preferences. That showed up only in the newest version when I reinstalled the app.

Could you please add a screenshot of what's happening? As well as the Rule that's being referenced by that image?

I'm not sure I currently understand the problem.

Is the icon shown dictated by what apps the user has set to open the files?

JML54 commented 4 years ago

I certainly don't have my image files opened by Adobe Acrobat, Preview, or any of my other PDF applications. And there are multiple image file types, which have different icons showing on the left side of the screen capture. The other categories of files (Text and Documents) all show different icons there for the different file types in the category, too. All of those icons seem to point to the default application for opening those files.

The displayed icon seems to be for a Mac application called PDF Expert https://pdfexpert.com. Do you have that installed? If so maybe it hijacked 'Open with..' for some file types?

Also, what are your rules for Images?

I do have that installed; it is listed in the "open with" context menu but it only works in that manner to convert images to PDFs. I've uninstalled ServiceStation, hoping that the larger problem of changing external drive icons would be fixed.
