Week 5 ready for review

@pawaitemadisoncollege week 5 ready for review I spent the week trying to build on my individual project.

What were your key learning points/takeaways?

• My key learning points are to do more close readings and try to get a small part working before trying to move too many parts. I think I will get a simple dao working again, then try to get the generic dao working after. I also need to pay attention to what i am importing. I am noticing much later that I am importing the wrong package with the same name. This also relates to my need to do close readings when learning for manual pages. I was feeling pretty down about my loss of progress, but I figure I need to keep moving forward and forget about the sunk costs. I have a strong feeling I will be transformed into a better Java developer by the end of this course.

What challenged you?

• My health issues got the best of me this week; I am starting to feel better. Something that challenged me this week was creating another branch and and reworking my project.

What problems did you solve and what resources did you use to solve them?

• I had problems figuring out how I could get some of the entities working. After recreating my database, I have a better idea of what I have to do.

Hi @mybffjustin! It's great to see so much progress on your indie project already- you are being WAY too hard on yourself! Usually at this point I'm reminding students about the Generic Dao, but it looks like you are already making progress there!

• [ ] Once you fully convert to the GenericDao, you can remove the entity-specific daos. Note that you will still have unit tests for each entity-dao though.
• [ ] Unit testing of the relationships should be more through. After adding a user with a role, verify the user and the role are both on their respective tables. Be sure to verify the delete case as well. If a user role is removed, what should happen to the user? Make sure what should happen on each side of the relationship does happen.
