Spotify Connect (Kodi 17.6) #85

Hello, wonderful addon!! Everything in the main addon works flawlessly so far! However, the Spotify connect isn't working very well for me at all.... I can barely play a song, whenever I do play a song it starts about 30 seconds after I started it on my phone, massive delays, songs also tend to freeze if they play as well. Is this normal stuff? (I know its experimental)

I'm using a raspberry pi 3 with raspbian stretch installed and my pi is connected via LAN. Internet isn't the problem (I have a 24mpbs connection).

Once again, wonderful addon thus far, I hope we can fix this!

Hi Marcelveldt! I'm using your latest 1.1.56 add-on version on a raspberry pi3 model B, installed on kodi 17.6. 2 days ago connect suddenly stopped working, before it worked correctly. I tried disabling and enabling connect feature, reinstalling add-on, but nothing. Nothing has changed in my kodi configuration. The strange thing is that now with connect option enabled, when I start kodi the device appears on my phone for a pair of seconds and then disappears. It seems a Spotify server modification rather than a add-on problem, cause really nothing in my configuration changed. The problem appeared while listening, I changed a song from phone and after that device never appeared again. Thank you for your time!

Hi, I have the same issue. As @scarapunzi said the device pops up in available devices for 1 ms and then goes away.
Short demonstration video about the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vP63zjBO5-w&feature=youtu.be kodi.log: https://pastebin.com/ErCcP0kB

Just a suggestion, SpotifyD is a working spotify connect client, It might be worth looking into using it as a backed for the connect feature. I haven't had any issues with running it standalone https://github.com/Spotifyd/spotifyd

I've found the solution to get spotify connect work again. There is a newer version of spotty which works. You have to compile spotty from the source (https://github.com/michaelherger/spotty) for your platform and overwrite the files in the plugins directory (/resources/lib/spotty/<platform>/)

I compiled the x86-linux for myself and if you are on linux you can use it until @marcelveldt updates the plugin.

x86-linux.zip

nutritiousreject commented 6 years ago

Thanks for the fix @zingz0r

I have compiled the spotty package for armv7 linux which should work on any raspberry pi above v2

Just incase anyone else uses kodi on their raspberry pi and doesn't feel like cross compiling

Hmm ... I'm trying this same fix for a Kodi 17.4 bundled as part of a retropie install, running on a Raspberry Pi 3. Same version of add-on: 1.1.56.

I tried using the zip that @nutritiousreject kindly provided but it won't work as a replacement: it seems that version is dynamically link and doesn't work for the libraries in my distro. The version of spotty that I currently have is statically linked instead. :-/ Trying to see if I can manage to compile spotty in a way that works as a replacement for me, but meanwhile leaving this comment here in case others face the same issue or have ideas on how to overcome it.

nutritiousreject commented 6 years ago

@adamantivm I'll look into how to cross compile a statically linked binary for raspberry pi.

lutel commented 6 years ago

The precompiled version crashes on Kodi 17.5 @ QNAP HS-251. How can I compile it on QNAP?

OscarWoHA commented 6 years ago

Hey @nutritiousreject, have you had a look at it yet. Kinda frustrating not having 5.1 sound Spotify Connect..

marcelveldt commented 6 years ago

I will update the package later today with new versions of all binaries. Hopefully that will fix most issues.

OscarWoHA commented 6 years ago

Thank you @marcelveldt! Your plugin works great on OSMC other than Spotify Connect not working.

marcelveldt commented 6 years ago

ok, version 1.1.57 is up on the repo. let me know how it works. I'm very busy atm with work and our new house so did not really had a chance to test it myself

OscarWoHA commented 6 years ago

Works as supposed!

lutel commented 6 years ago

Update from Kodi doesn't work for me. Latest version is still 1.1.56. How can I fix this?

OscarWoHA commented 6 years ago

The newest version hasn't been pushed to his software repository yet. You will have to manually update it. @lutel

lutel commented 6 years ago

Thanks for reply, i'm looking forward for update from repository.

marcelveldt commented 6 years ago

Update should be available on the repo now

jreybert commented 6 years ago

Repo updated with version 1.1.58. It works like a charm.

Thanks a lot @marcelveldt you finally took time for this, I think we mostly all understand it can be hard to find some time!

lutel commented 6 years ago

Thank you @marcelveldt for update, I have another problem now, I don't know if it is related to update, but plugin doesn't work either with connect or directly. When I try to play song I hear just loud click and nothing else, Kodi thinks the song is being played as it mutes interface sounds.

I have the same issue... (Using Kodi 18 beta2 and Spotify 1.1.58)

To connect Spotify to Kodi and play Spotify music on Kodi, you can convert Spotify playlist to the common formats like MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC with Spotify Music Converter for Mac, and then add Spotify songs to Kodi for offline to Get Spotify on Kodiore information, please refer to How to Get Spotify on Kodi.

With Spotify Connect, you can stream Spotify music to a lot of devices which are connected to your home Wifi network. However, there is still a list of devices which don't have Internet access. In this case, you can follow these tips to convert Spotify songs by using the best music converter for mac. And then you can enjoy Spotify songs on technically any devices you have.
