I have yabai configured so that focus follows mouse and the mouse follows focus. I also have my dock set to disappear by default and only show when I hover in the bottom area.
When my screen is empty (no windows on it), and I hover into that area, when the dock pops up, it registers a click, opening whatever application my mouse happened to be over at the moment.
