Implement patient preview in queue dialog. Still missing: Right-click menu #44

Patients are not shown in queue dialog. Need to add this.

Original issue reported on code.google.com by chrystal...@free.fr on 23 Nov 2009 at 10:24

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Patients are now visible but we can't interact with them : We should be able to
drag
a patient to a new position in the queue and right clicking a patient in the
queue
should show a pop menu with some possible actions (send him to reception, to
home, etc)

Don't forget another useful feature here: in TH you are able to drag a patient
from
the queue to the main game area, and drop him on another room of the same type
as the
one he's queueing at. This will redirect him to that room.

I didn't know this was possible

If someone else wants to work on this, there is no problem. For different
reasons
(too busy with my real life and no Internet access at home too), I have no time
at
the moment to work on this project but I still follow your work. I am very
excited by
the enhancements all the team made. Keep working!

Added in r796:
Possibility to move a patient to the head or tail of a queue

Things still missing:
*Dropping a patient between other patients in queue (not possible in original
TH)
*Dropping a patient to another room of the same kind
*Right-click menu

You could actually drop patients within the queue in the original too.

Added "Dropping a patient between other patients in queue" in r803

Maybe one more thing to do : In original TH, selected patient blinks (the "real"
patient, not the representation in the dialog)

Dropping patients to another room of the same type is implemented in r833.

Sorry, but not all aspects of the patient preview were implemented yet, see
comment 6:
*Right-click menu

Thus the issue was left open.
I'll update the summary though to make it clear what's missing.

Also: Selected patient blinks in the normal view, and the room you're about to
drop the patient on also blinks (same as when about to edit a room).

What is the purpose of sending someone to the reception desk?

Original comment by edvin.li...@gmail.com on 13 Jan 2011 at 8:39

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
perhaps so they can be directed to another room.

There is another issue where when you delete a room (when you are moving things
around or it was blown up) and its the only one of that type the patients
should go to reception. At the moment though patients in the queue leave with
a "no more diagnosis" or "no treatment" message.

As for the sending them home or to another hospital, you can do that when they
are close to death in the hopes they die elsewhere :)

On comment 14: In TH your view was limited by the smaller display, so this may
have helped in larger hospitals to adjust queue lengths and refer them to other
rooms via receptionist - where similar room was not close by.
However in CTH we have a much greater view of the hospital and patients tend to
split themselves between rooms more evenly. i.e. you build another pharmacy
and the queue from the existing one divides between the two.

Therefore the send to reception option may now be redundant.

Aha, so they go to the reception to be sent to another identical room?

The right click menu is now in the game. There are still no competitor
hospitals, but that has more to do with no AI than the dialog so I'll close the
issue now. :-)

Like I previously said, in vanilla TH , the selected patient in the queue
dialog blinks in the game view, and the room you're about to drop the patient
on also blinks (same as when about to edit a room). If you want, I think I can
make a video.

Don't you want these features in CorsixTH ?

Yes, I know, but the issue was originally just about patients not shown at all,
and nowadays the issue list is concentrated around bugs, problems and
enhancements, not the todo-list. So I thought it was time to close this issue.
