How useful are they compared to for example youtube videos?

in-person makes it possible to ask questions
half day is too short, so only the basis are covered, you only get the lecture which are already there (and better) on youtube
how to deal with various level of competence of the public
Could there be a 1 day kokkos for beginners, 1 day advanced kokkos, then 1 day for questions
beginners hackathon seems much better model than the tutorial
